Senate State Government Committee
Not quite half way through the 2017-18 Legislative Session, the Senate State Government Committee, which I chair, has already reported 19 bills and two Senate Resolutions to the full Senate. I take pride in my Chairmanship of this very important committee and am happy to vet the many issues that are referred to us. Of the 19 bills that have been reported, one has become law, Senator Aumentís SB 527 (Act 29) creating the Independent Office of Inspector General, and five have been passed by the full Senate and are awaiting House action, including: Senator Eichelbergerís SB 166 (public employee paycheck protection), Senator Laughlinís SB 169 (lobbyist disclosure requirements), Senator Scavelloís SB 178 (Historical & Museum Code updates), Senator Schwankís SB 303 (land conveyance), and Senator Raffertyís SB 353 (land conveyance). I look forward to planned meetings and hearings through the rest of the year.
