After Decades of Waiting Route 322 Construction Has Begun

(Image from PennDOT 322 Conchester Highway Progress Gallery)

After decades of waiting I am excited to announce that construction on Route 322 began earlier this week. This project will add additional lanes and other features making Rt. 322 more convenient and safe for the residents of the 9th Senatorial district, and others around Delaware and Chester Counties who use this highway daily. I have worked to help get this project underway, and with the funding brought in by Act 89 of 2013 this has become a reality and we can finally end the headache that has become known as the “Killer Conchester”

As this project develops over the coming years I will provide updates on the status of the project in my weekly e-newsletter, social media, and Senate webpage. This way my constituents will be up to date on the progress that has been made.

Last Friday, I toured the Kimberly Clark manufacturing facility located in Chester City. This facility employees more than 600 employees and produced 50% of the Scott 1000 brand nationwide. With over 110 years of history, the Chester City facility is vital part of the 9th District.

Senator Killion visits MVP Recovery Delaware County

Last week I had the opportunity to visit MVP Recovery Community in Delaware County with my colleague Senator McGarrigle and US Congressman Meehan. We were given a tour of the facility and met with the Executive Director Brian Corson.

MVP is a Recovery Community that offers a safe, sober, and structured living environment for individuals who want to embrace a life of Recovery, free from the use of alcohol and other drugs. MVP is not a treatment center. MVP provides a setting designed to promote healthy, structured, and responsible living in a sober atmosphere. MVP teaches members the skills necessary to build and maintain a solid foundation of Recovery.

Northley Middle School Students Create Award Winning App

Congratulations to a team of sixth to eighth grade students from Northley Middle School in Aston Township who have been named Best in State winners in the fifth annual Verizon Innovative Learning App challenge for their mobile app concept Garden Aid.

Northley Middle School is one of two winners from Pennsylvania.  The students’ winning app idea was selected from more than 1,800 submissions nationwide and aims to address problems that can keep people from successfully growing a garden.  The Garden Aid app would provide insights on how to grow a thriving garden, from plant identification to tips and tricks for healthy plants.

The students earned a $5,000 award from the Verizon Foundation for their school and tablets for each team member.
