Senator Killion Introduces Legislation to Assist Social Work
This week, legislation I introduced, SB 530, which would amend the Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists, and Professional Counselors Act to provide for the independent practice of clinical social work and extend a clinical social workerís practice to include diagnosis, was unanimously approved by the Senate Consumer Protection & Professional Licensure Committee.
On the same day, social work students from the district were in the capitol to support the legislation. I appreciated meeting with many constituents and social worker students and faculty on the Floor of the Senate just prior to the Committee meeting, as part of their NASW advocacy day.
