Reminder to Bring Pets Indoors During Cold Temperatures
Last year, I fully supported Act 10 of 2017, which made a number of improvements to Pennsylvania’s animal cruelty protections and shelter restrictions for outdoor pets.
Under the new law, a dog cannot be tethered for longer than 30 minutes in temperatures above 90 degrees or below 32 degrees Fahrenheit.
A number of stakeholder groups, including the Humane Society of the United States, Pennsylvania Vet Medical Association, and state and federal agencies strongly supported the anti-tethering components of the new law; and I believe these provisions were long overdue and a step in the right direction.
There are more details on the anti-tethering provisions of Act 10 here.
Assistance for Veterans Available – Next Wednesday, January 24th
I am beginning a partnership with the Pennsylvania American Legion to assist veterans at my Brookhaven office, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 24th. I would like to encourage veterans and their families who have questions about benefits and programs to schedule an appointment for these assistance hours.
A representative from the Pennsylvania American Legion will be available at my Brookhaven district office, located at 4110 Edgmont Avenue. Appointments for these hours are strongly encouraged and can be made by contacting the office at (610) 447 – 3163. If a veteran cannot attend this date, this service will be offered every fourth Wednesday of each month.
